Welcome to the third binary release of the Uni-Verse project. This release was finalized in mid-March, 2007 (although many of the binaries were built in February). Changes from the previous release include:

Based on latest Verse core, release 6
A new renderer using OpenSG scene graph has been added (Windows only).
Updated Autodesk 3ds Max plugin (Windows only)
Lots of improvements in the "Quel Solaar" suite of applications, including a brand-new connection-establishment interface with master server support
Also check our wiki documentation project

Source code is available for most of the software, but not included in the release downloads. For source code, please use SVN. You can see a list of available modules.

This is a snapshot of software which is many cases is still under development. There might be issues, which is why feedback is very welcome.

The software is distributed in one downloadable file per supported platform, for your convenience. Please pick a file below.

Linux

The Linux distribution archive is basically just a directory of binaries, compressed into a standard tar/gzip archive. Download this, and extract it to some suitable location. Then cd into the directory, and look around.

Release archive: universe-linux-20070228.tar.gz (approximately 6.5 MB)

Mac OS X

The Macintosh distribution is an ordinary dmg-file.

Release archive: Uni-Verse_Release_3.dmg (approximately 11.2 MB).

Windows

For Windows, we have a fairly standard single-file download, setup.exe. Just download and run the installer, and then explore the new items in the Start menu.

Installer: universe-setup-20070228.exe (approximately 14.5 MB)

External Software

There is some software made available on other sites, that can be of interest to Uni-Verse users. These include:

Verse-Blender is a version of the Blender 3D package with added Verse support. Verse support is also in the main CVS version of Blender's source code, but must be enabled before building.
Verse-GIMP is a plug-in for The GIMP image manipulation program, that Verse-enables it.
